I bought this tent after the tent I had for 2 years before snapped. I'll speak to that tent for a second...it was a Slumberjack Trail Tent 2. The thing was awesome and I probably had a bit more of an affinity to it then I should have because it was my first tent. It held up in high wind and rain and was really roomy for a single person. It was a bit heavy, but once again, mostly car camping here. I mention this tent because it was less than $100 and lasted me over 2 years, once again going with the theme that you don't have to have top of the line gear to get outside. When that tent broke I bought the Half Dome 2 Plus because of the amount of room it has and the reputation of quality from REI. Usually its myself and my girlfriend in the tent and sometimes our dog. The Plus model gave us that extra space for the dog as well as any gear we needed to stash. It's a bit much for 1 person to carry if you're backpacking, but 2 people can split the weight no problem.
