Navigator Portfolios - A simple idea with a sophisticated execution.

Navigator portfolios strive to preserve and grow our money by navigating into, or out of the markets as necessary.  Sometimes invested, but sometimes not.  This basic philosophy is manifested in multiple portfolio concepts.

The Managed Income Strategy is a bond (not stock) strategy.

It seeks first to preserve our principal no matter the market environment.

Second, it seeks current dividend income – cash dividends that can be reinvested for growth, or that can be distributed as retirement income.

Finally, the strategy seeks capital growth.

The strategy generally invests in shares of carefully selected mutual funds that invest in high yield corporate bonds, floating rate bonds, or in money market funds.   It is sometimes fully invested.  Sometimes it will be fully un-invested, sitting in cash or a cash equivalent like a money market fund.

The Multi-Sector Bond Model is a bond (not stock) strategy.

It does not typically reallocate into, or out of the bond market.  Rather, it is a continuously invested model that is reallocated quarterly.

The portfolio members are selected from 15 wide-ranging bond sectors on the basis of their strength rankings.  The strongest three members are selected for inclusion in the portfolio.

This model seeks to achieve outperformance based on these ongoing, quarterly selections.

The Tax Exempt Bond Model is a municipal bond (not stock) strategy.

It seeks current income that is exempt from federal income taxes by investing in mutual funds that are invested in municipal bonds.

The model strives also to reduce exposure to state income taxes.

It does not typically reallocate into, or out of the bond market.  Rather, it is a continuously invested model that is reallocated quarterly. The portfolio members are selected from a broad range of tax-free municipal bond mutual funds on the basis of their strength rankings.  The strongest four members are selected for inclusion in the portfolio.   This model seeks to achieve outperformance based on these ongoing, quarterly selections.

The Navigator Three Strategy Blend is a portfolio strategy that invests primarily in equity mutual funds.  The concept blends three separate strategies into a single portfolio.

The portfolio strives to preserve and grow investment funds – even during protracted “bear” markets.

The portfolio is invested very differently in “bull” market environments versus “bear” markets.  The strategies will shift allocations accordingly.  During measured bull” markets the portfolio will be invested up to 100% in equity mutual funds.  During “bear” markets the portfolio will shift to a greater emphasis on short term bond and money market allocations.

The three strategies seek to emphasize the strongest measured asset classes and market sectors.  The Navigator Three Strategy Blend model is appropriate for both conservative and more aggressive growth investors.
